What is A Pen for Pearl?  A diary of sorts...a photography journal.

A Pen for Pearl is dedicated to my grandmother, Gloria Pearl, in honor of her

faithfulness to handwritten letters and her love for the beautiful things in life.

May her legacy be carried on through my journal as I correspond

regularly with you, always remembering the beauty that surrounds us.

I am a Tampa wedding photographer, and I specialize in capturing natural,

personal, romantic images.  I shoot primarily with film...a timeless medium.  I

would love for you to visit A Pen for Pearl frequently!  Consider it an

invitation to sit with me on my patio, enjoy a home brewed latte, and

browse through a handful of photographs together...

~The Full Length Veil~

A couple weeks ago, I talked about how much I enjoy photographing a bride in a veil…it adds such drama to the image. Generally, any time I have the opportunity to add texture to a photograph, it’s a good thing. A veil adds not only texture, but romance too. And given the choice…which, of course,...

~Old Hollywood Glam~

Just when I thought this mother of two crazy boys was beyond the life of soireeing, here I am getting dolled up and doing what I least expected. Last night, I put on a pretty party dress and visited the beautiful Barger Estate in Thonotosassa, FL, which is a new venue perfectly suited for an...

~Florida Sun~

This weekend was gorgeous…the sun and temp were perfect…and it looks like today is going to be more of the same. I’m absolutely drinking it up. After months and months of sticky humidity and heat, I now remember just why I love Florida in the winter so much. The day this photo was taken felt...

~Thursday Detail~

Hello friends, Last night was a fun night…I spent the evening with two lovely friends…we chatted for awhile, ate edamame (which was a new experience for me…I’m still trying to decide if I like it), and watched The X Factor. I have to admit that I enjoyed Simon and Paula back together, although I didn’t...

Hello friends, Hope you are all having a lovely week! This post is short and sweet…just a little bit of sparkle. Yesterday I shared Betsy’s beautiful laugh, and today I’m sharing the necklace that accentuated the deep v-neck back of her vintage lace dress. Such a simple and striking touch. As I mentioned yesterday, I...

Hello friends, I’m feeling happy and excited today! I can’t wait to see my family. It’s a perfect day to share bright cheerful pink peonies…this lovely little bunch matches my mood perfectly, even at 5:45 in the morning. In a few moments, I’ll begin the mad dash to finish packing and get everyone dressed and...

~All the Little Details~

Hello friends, Hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend. My family and I enjoyed watching NFL yesterday afternoon and evening…it’s always a fun day in our house when the season starts. I also watched a good bit of the 9/11 coverage, which made the day feel a bit somber. Somehow it’s difficult to watch football...

~Thursday Detail~

Hello Friends, Happy Thursday to you! Today’s post is short and sweet…I have a busy morning ahead of me, including a dentist appointment…why, oh why, must we go to the dentist? This Thursday’s detail shot is…sweet. Although this one is very simple, it’s been one of my favorites for a while. In fact, I used...
